The Road Climate Group

The road climate group is a part of the laborarory of Climatology at Physical Geography, department of Earth Sciences at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. The road weather research at the University of Gothenburg started in the 1970's and consists today of a group of people working within different projects concerning road climatology.

The road climatology group work with several projects that are related and can be applied to local climate, winter roads, modelling of weather and climate variables and physical processes involving slipperiness.

An aim with the research is that its results should be used in models and technoligies improving standards, accessibility and safety in winter traffic.

Partner projects

The road climatology group works together with several national and international partners. These projects have a focus on solutions for detecting and giving warnings about severe weather conditions along roads. Cooperation is made both with authorities, companies and universities.
