Open position as a Doctoral Student in Earth Sciences

News: Oct 29, 2018

We seek a person committed to working on sedimentary rocks from one of the most exciting time periods on Earth, the Cryogenian, Earth endured world-wide glaciations of such extremes that it has been dubbed “Snowball Earth”.

At the heart of the project is the idea that the origin of glacial rocks and hence the dynamics of glaciers from that time can be deduced by provenance studies. Here the chosen Doctoral Student can make use of state-of-the-art analytical equipment here in Gothenburg (Laser Ablation coupled to an Agilent 8800QQQ, Micro-Raman) and partner labs around the world (Adelaide, Melbourne). In particular, an emerging promising technique developed in Gothenburg, in-situ Rb-Sr dating, will be applied.
