Data servers at the department

The Department of Earth Sciences hosts different types of data servers which is used within different research areas. Information about the different servers, how and what they are used for, and what kind of information/data they contain, is presented here. 

MAGIC (Modeling And Geo-Information Centre)

  • Total capacity: 392 cores and 20TB RAID storage

This is the High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster for the Department of Earth Sciences.

CASMOC (Computing And Storage system for MOdeling the Climate system)

  • Year since: 2017
  • Total capacity: 20 cores with 32TB RAID storage

This server is mainly used for the climate molding course in the Department of Earth Science. It can also be used for research related to Earth System Modeling during the spare time.

RACDTP (Regional Analysis – Climate Data with a focus on Tibet Plateau)

  • Year since: 2018
  • Storage capacity: 408TB RAID 6

This is a data server for storing oncoming regional analysis data as well as climate data sets with a focus on the Tibet Plateau.
